Groovy Vs The Leguaan

The lessons in life are sometimes best learned the hard way, a burnt finger, a slight fall, these small acts bring attention back to the task at hand and the memory is stored for future reference. Through-out our lifetime we make experiments to see what works?, what can be harmful? and what can be beneficial down the road?

Without a mother to help guide them through the hiccups of life, the kittens are having to discover on their own and learn the hard way in the game of life through trial and error.

Groovy Approaches
Yesterday I sat and observed one of these lessons as a leguaan (monitor lizard) slowly tacked its way across the garden, dragging his tail over the soft green grass, the sun heating its cold blooded body. Groovy, the male kitten, decided he should investigate the strange creature, a dinosaur type lizard, though only young, it would still leave a nasty bite if provoked and of course they are also a carnivorous reptile.

The more he stalked his prey the braver Groovy became narrowing his fear gap, with his curiosity out weighing the dangers this creature posed and his own internal safety mechanism.

At last Groovy was in reach the leguaan curved it's body and kept one eye fixed on his foe, Groovy didn't. He turned his head slightly taking his eyes off his enemy for a brief second, before he knew what had happened he was staggering backwards.

The leguaan seemed to be wearing a smile of satisfaction as he crept off into the cover of the jungle camouflage, it was only a warning shot. As the kitten had turned it's head, the tail of the leguaan as quick as a flash of lighting had instinctively re-acted, striking Groovy directly across the side of his turned head.

If he had wanted to, I'm sure the leguaan would have had ample time to set upon his prey and sink his sharp teeth into the soft feline fur. While Groovy was sitting on his tail admiring the pretty stars, dazed and confused, wondering what had just happened.

Nature is about the survival of the fittest, match ups aren't always fair, but what is in this world we like to call our reality.
