The texture in your mouth feels like the most tender piece of steak you have ever eaten, with eyes closed you would think it was, other than fact it's been dipped in a mixture of wasabi and soy sauce, mouthwatering.
They had returned triumphantly with a 1.5 - 2 kg tuna, plus a few others from their fishing trip, now we stood in the guest house kitchen. Abu took the fish from the fridge and placed it on the cutting board.
Starting at the tail he began to fillet the large fish, expertly he guided the sharp butches knife towards the head, you could see the Israeli had performed this operation before, many times. Next he sliced the fillet in two, so fresh there was no smell, then he delicately peeled back the skin off each piece.
Leaving behind two dark pieces of juicy meat, Toblerone shaped, these he sliced again cross-ways, I watched with fascination .
"Do you like sushi?" he asked as he placed the pieces neatly on a metal plate.
"I like, he he he," his Japanese girlfriend, Alana, giggled and licked her lips.
"I know you do" he playfully winked at her.
"I haven't eaten much myself" I added at the question that was directed at me "but I'm always willing to try new things."
"These we'll do on the barbeque" he turned over the fish and started down the other side.
We all moved outside to where Dier, the owner of the guest house, set up his makeshift BBQ, table and chairs in the now dark garden.
BBQ building is not a strength in SL, though that did not matter much as we dug into the raw tuna. The fish was delicious, cold from the fridge, dipped in the tasty sauce, spicy wasabi, it quickly vanished into the awaiting hungry mouths, leaving the metal plate to stare back up at us.
Dier blew at the few red coals that had begun to burn, the smoke rose up into the trees and starry night sky. Fifteen minutes later the view had changed, the red coals were now obscured, by sizzling tuna steaks, flavored smoke rose from the BBQ and filled the air.
Our plates were filled with soft potatoes cooked in the fire, a tomatoe and onion salad and large tuna steaks.
I think it's time for lunch :-)
